Job Description
Croydon Council is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Carbon Neutral Support Officer to support the delivery of the Council's Climate Action Plan and sustainability programmes.
Working within the Carbon Neutral Programme team, you will help coordinate climate projects, monitor progress, manage data and reporting, support stakeholder engagement, and contribute to initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and strengthen community resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of climate and sustainability projects.
- Monitor programme performance, data and carbon reduction activities.
- Prepare reports, briefings, presentations and communications.
- Organise meetings, workshops, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Maintain project records, trackers and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Council services, residents, community groups and external partner
About You
You will have experience supporting projects, programmes or service delivery activities and be comfortable working with data, reports and stakeholders. You will have strong organisational skills, be able to manage multiple priorities, and have a genuine interest in climate action, sustainability and environmental improvement.
Knowledge of climate change, carbon reduction, sustainability or environmental policy would be advantageous, as would an understanding of concepts such as climate justice, community resilience, circular economy and wellbeing-focused approaches to sustainability.
Essential Requirements
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting projects or programmes.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Understanding of degrowth, circular economy, climate justice or community resilience.
- Experience supporting community engagement or partnership projects.
