Communications Assistant (Apprentice)

We're looking for a creative and curious Content Creator Apprentice to join our team. The role will play a hands-on role in developing engaging content across platforms including social media, print and digital. 

The main purpose of this role is to help shape the council’s approach to engaging a younger audience through creating content. 

Working to briefs, you’ll help plan, research and produce written, visual and audio materials that support wider media, marketing and documentation campaigns. This is the ideal role for someone who is passionate about storytelling, enjoys working with a range of media formats, and wants to learn how to connect messages with audiences in meaningful and measurable ways.  

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across communications and contribute to the full content lifecycle: from planning and creation to storage, distribution and evaluation. 

You will work closely with the council’s youth participation team, collaborating to understand Merton’s young people and create content that resonates with them.  

You will complete the Content Creation Apprenticeship Level 3 run by provider JGA. Through this programme they will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) that underpin effective content creation and communications practice, including audience understanding, content production, data-informed decision making, campaign planning and brand application.
