About The Role -
We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and reliable Recreation Assistants to join our team.

As a Recreation Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of the day to day operation of the centre. You’ll help us provide a safe, clean, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone who visits.

This is a varied, hands on role where no two shifts are quite the same. From lifeguarding and preparing sports areas and helping customers to carrying out safety checks and maintaining high standards across the facility, you’ll play an important part in delivering an excellent customer experience.

As a Recreation Assistant, you will:
- Provide a friendly, welcoming and professional service to customers.
- Assist customers with general enquiries and help them get the most from their visit.
- Carry out regular health and safety checks across the facility.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the centre.
- Set up, take down and safely store sports and activity equipment.
- Lifeguarding our swimming pools
- Prepare sports halls and activity spaces for bookings, clubs and events.
- Regularly check equipment and facilities and report any defects or safety concerns.
- Monitor activities and help ensure customers use facilities safely and appropriately.
- Support the Duty Manager with the safe and effective operation of the centre.
- Follow emergency, evacuation and incident procedures when required.
- Assist with first aid and emergency situations in accordance with your training and qualifications.
- Complete appropriate operational records and checklists.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a positive experience for our customers.
- Help ensure the centre remains a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
- Attend regular monthly training to maintain knowledge and skills

Depending on the requirements of the role, you may need, or be supported to obtain, relevant qualifications such as:
- First Aid
- Emergency Response qualifications
- Pool Lifeguard qualification, Essential
- Safeguarding training
- Other relevant leisure industry training
You'll work as part of a supportive team, develop valuable customer service and operational skills and help provide an important service to the local community.

You'll also have opportunities to develop your knowledge and experience, with the potential to progress into roles such as Duty Manager and other positions within leisure operations.
