About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
How You’ll Be Involved
As a Multi Skilled Tradesperson, you will undertake a range of building repairs, maintenance, renewals and replacements, from routine reactive repairs through to larger remedial and planned works. You will be competent to a high standard in at least two trade disciplines, which may include plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, bricklaying, painting and decorating, roofing, glazing, floor laying or other relevant building trades.
A key part of the role will be supporting Camden’s response to damp and mould, including cases that fall within Awaab’s Law requirements. You will assess the condition of properties, complete appropriate remedial works, maintain compliance with health and safety and building standards, and report back findings, risks, completed works and any follow-on actions needed so that cases can be managed within required timescales.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
All About You
To find out more about what it is like to work at Camden, meet some of our People by visiting 'www.camdenjobs.co.uk/our-stories'.
You will have experience of building repairs and maintenance in domestic or social housing settings, with strong practical skills across more than one trade area. You will be able to diagnose faults, understand when a repair is straightforward and when it needs further investigation, and complete work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will understand the importance of safe working practices, accurate record keeping and keeping residents informed. You will be confident reporting property defects, damp and mould risks, access issues, hazards and any concerns that may affect compliance with Awaab’s Law or other relevant regulations. A full UK driving licence and flexibility to work across Camden will be required.
You will carry out multi-skilled repairs and remedial works in residents’ homes, void properties and other Council-owned premises. This may include identifying and addressing causes of damp and mould, completing mould-related remedial works, carrying out associated repairs and decoration, and ensuring works are completed right first time wherever possible.
You will maintain clear and accurate records of inspections, works completed, materials used, resident contact, risks identified and follow-on works required. You will report findings promptly to supervisors, planners, compliance colleagues or other relevant teams so that Camden can respond quickly, evidence its actions and meet statutory and regulatory requirements, including Awaab’s Law.
