Head of Economic Development
London Borough of Redbridge
Reference: RQ002776
Our borough is beginning a huge transformation. With ambitious regeneration plans, a need for new infrastructure, and plenty of investment on the way, things are changing. And we are transforming our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. We need leaders to take us on the journey.
As London’s economic momentum moves eastwards, Redbridge is perfectly positioned to attract inward investment. Enhanced transport links, competitive land prices, and a pro-investment, pro-growth council presents the ideal platform on which to build for the future. This is your opportunity to play a key leadership role in its delivery: your opportunity for growth.
You’ll help to develop Redbridge’s identity and profile as a great place to do business, overseeing our inward investment strategy and working with businesses already located within the borough to support business success and economic growth. And you’ll work closely with education and training providers to ensure that we are developing the skills and expertise in our community to maximise the opportunities this growth presents.
We’re looking for somebody who can build local and regional networks and foster positive relationships with funding bodies to identify and capitalise on the right opportunities for Redbridge. It’s a chance to take ownership of an ambitious programme for growth in a setting that has more opportunities than most. You’ll be able to see your impact quickly.
It’s a role that demands a tenacious approach to ensure continued momentum and a real chance for an independent and creative thinker to thrive. It’s important that you have relevant professional experience of economic development work, coupled with the insight to understand that local context is everything – and that approaches and strategies need to be bespoke to their setting.
Redbridge is London’s next big regeneration and development hotspot. Ilford has been identified as a place of opportunity within the London Plan, and stability in political and organisational leadership and direction is creating the ideal environment in which to make things happen. This is your chance to be part of it.
